Key advantages for retina clinics

Built for retinal PDT planning, not general-purpose image viewing.

1) Automated PDT planning

Automatically generates laser spot plans directly on fundus images.

Removes manual trial-and-error.

Reduces physician time while improving planning consistency.

2) Vendor-independent calibration

Works with any fundus camera.

Calibration based on real clinical measurement (LBD).

3) True clinical workflow (not just imaging)

Calibration, tumor tracing, safety landmarks, laser planning, saving and comparison.

Unlike conventional imaging systems that stop at image viewing.

4) Plan comparison & progression tracking

Flicker comparison between plans.

Track evolution and progression across follow-up visits.

Designed for retinal applications

  • Independent of camera type
  • Retina-specific planning with safety landmarks
  • Focused on reducing planning time while improving precision

NewVision PDT Planner can significantly simplify PDT planning and improve consistency across treatments.

PDT treatment planning workflow

A practical step-by-step flow aligned to clinical use.

PDT TREATMENT PLAN

  • Step 1. Calibration
  • Step 2. Covering the optic disc and fovea
  • Step 3. Tracing the tumor
  • Step 4. Planning the laser spots
  • Step 5. Saving the plan
  • Step 6. Comparing the plans

How it works in the clinic

Fast setup, repeatable planning, and consistent follow-up comparisons.

Calibration (LBD-based)

Prepare a calibration using the largest basal diameter (LBD) of the tumor.

Measure the tumor LBD using a slit lamp, then in the app click the LBD button and measure the LBD. The calibration value should be displayed. After that you may delete the measurement line by clicking the Del button.

Safety landmarks

Optic disc & fovea can be safeguarded from the laser by adding a safety landmark.

Click the DSK button on the left bar.

Then click on the optic disc in the image to add a DSK circle.

You can drag and move the circle, as well as resize it.

Comparing plans (flicker visualization)

To compare plans click File > Compare in the menu.

Select your saved plan files.

Selected images will be displayed in the comparison screen.

Use the right arrow button next to the magnifier to switch between images.

Change flicker speed to automatically switch images.
